Quality Management (QM) Quality management (QM) encompasses all organizational measures a company uses to plan, manage, ensure, and continuously improve quality and food safety. It is a comprehensive management tool: QM defines goals, responsibilities, processes, and resources, and ensures that customer, regulatory, and standard requirements are systematically met. An overview is provided on the following page: Quality management in the food industry.
In the food industry, a quality management system typically combines the HACCP concept with the requirements of standards such as IFS, BRCGS or FSSC 22000 or standards such as ISO 9001 and ISO 22000. Key elements are the QM documentation, Management review, internal audits, supplier management, complaint and deviation management, and the root cause analysis with corrective and preventive measures. Additional special regulations apply to manufacturers of dietary supplements; see [link/reference]. Quality management for food supplements.
