The requirements for food safety and audit compliance are constantly increasing. Particularly when assessing consumer goods and equipment, companies must be able to demonstrate at all times that the materials used are safe for their products and meet regulatory requirements.
Griesson de Beukelaer, one of the leading manufacturers of confectionery and snacks in Germany, also faced this challenge. Together with Praxistrainings-LMS, a site-wide concept was developed that combines knowledge, processes, and practical implementation.

The initial situation

Griesson de Beukelaer operates several locations and is subject to high standards. Quality– and safety requirements. However, in everyday work, different approaches to the evaluation of declarations of conformity for consumer goods and equipment became apparent.

This led to recurring questions:

  • How can declarations of conformity be assessed uniformly?
  • What regulatory requirements must be taken into account?
  • How can the safety of the materials used be verifiably documented at all times?
  • How can audit requirements be met sustainably?

Especially with regard to audits after IFS and BRCGS There was a desire for a uniform and transparent approach.

The solution

To sustainably standardize the processes, Praxistrainings-LMS relied on a combination of training, practical support and continuous professional exchange.
As part of the project, employees from various departments at several locations were trained. In addition to building specialist knowledge, the focus was primarily on its direct application to real-world problems.
Together, an internal checklist was developed, which now serves as a standardized basis for evaluating supplies. Regular Q&A sessions, risk assessments, and practical calculations further support employees in specific use cases.
This resulted in a standardized procedure that meets both regulatory and operational requirements.

The result

Through the harmonization of processes across all locations, Griesson de Beukelaer was able to establish a uniform understanding of valuation throughout the entire company.

Key findings include:

  • Uniform assessment of consumer goods and declarations of conformity
  • Structured and transparent risk assessments
  • More security at internal and external audits
  • Greater decision-making certainty for employees
  • Sustainable anchoring of knowledge and processes within the company

However, the greatest added value lies in long-term operational certainty: Today, the company can make a sound assessment of whether the materials and equipment used are suitable for the respective products, and document these decisions in a comprehensible manner at any time.

Conclusion

This project demonstrates that audit compliance is far more than simply fulfilling regulatory requirements. Only when processes, knowledge, and practical application are integrated can a consistently high level of safety be achieved.
With the developed concept, Griesson de Beukelaer now has a uniform and audit-proof procedure for the evaluation of consumer goods and declarations of conformity – anchored across locations and sustainably.
